| Multi Swap 3 Way Exchange Guide |
A Multi swap is 3 or more way exchange with 3 parties of people interested in exchanging with each other.
Arranging a multiswap can be quite difficult though has its benefits as you are more likely to find your exchange much quicker and move in a shorter period of time rather than waiting for a straight swap with one other tenant.
This is an example of a 3 way swap* Party 1 - Has a 3 bed house in Devon and wants 4 bed house Norfolk * Party 2 - Has a 2 bed G.F. flat in Sussex and Wants 3 bed house Devon * Party 3 - Has a 4 bed house Norfolk and Wants 2 bed G.F. flat Sussex How Do I Find a Multi Swap?
Party Number 1
“Let’s establish that you’re example Party Number 1” You need a 4 bed house in Norfolk yet live in Devon. You have an interested party (number 2) that are interested in your home in Devon yet party number 2 live in a flat in Sussex which is not what you require, so you need to find Party number 3 who want party number twos flat in Sussex! Party Number 2 It is advisable to ask Party number 2 that wants you home to come and view it before you both commence the search for the 3rd missing link in the exchange chain. So party number 2 has viewed said yes they want your home. Party Number 1 and 2 now must work together to find Party Number 3 Now both parties 1 & 2 must find party number 3, you need to add a multiswap to the forum board and both of you need to amend your original advert to say possible multiswap and the details. You may both need to look through lots of exchange adverts to find the link, even though this is a time consuming process, it can cut down the time it takes to exchange by weeks, months and in some cases years! Party Number 3 (final link needed to complete a chain) Now that you have found a possible link (party number 3) you need to contact this person giving them all the details of the home they maybe interested in, they do not need the details of the other parties home. Next Stage: You have now arranged to see each others homes and you have all agreed!Final Stage: Your Application Paperwork
Next you all must go to your own landlord, and say you want to arrange a 3 way exchange and fill out the application forms.
Explain the situation to the office staff who will have dealt with many multi exchanges in the past. Each person only needs to add their own details and the details of the person moving into their home not the remaining link party. You must then hand in your paperwork and wait for the landlords to come to a decision which will be made within 42 days of the correct paperwork being handed in, it is advisable to get a dated receipt with the details of what they receive on it and the member of staffs name that accepted the paperwork, in the event that it could end up lost within the office! If sending by post get it recorded or sent by special delivery! If possible asked for the paperwork to be checked at the time of handing it in to make sure it has been filled out correctly. This will save you time in the long run. Once all this is done you will receive the go ahead to exchange and a mutual date must be arranged between you all. For larger multiswaps use the same method as above for a 3 way swap
